Rule Violations

Inmate Rules & Regulations Posted on January 20, 2015

Inmates who commit a rule violation are subject to discipline. Discipline may include loss of privileges, loss of good time and/or placement in punitive segregation.


Major Rule Violations

  1. Inmates who commit a major rule violation may be placed in administrative segregation.
  2. Inmates placed in administrative segregation are not permitted to bring any personal or Jail issued property with them other than a blanket and Bible/religious book.
  3. If an inmate's violation is considered a crime according to Wisconsin State Statutes, charges may be forwarded to the District Attorney.
  4. All inmates being held for a major rule violation will be advised of their rights to a hearing.
  5. Inmates have the right to waive their hearing rights.
  6. Inmates will be notified of a decision and any disciplinary action. Inmates may appeal the decision and disciplinary action to the Chief Deputy and finally to the Sheriff.

Minor Rule Violations

  1. Inmates who commit a minor rule violation will be notified of the violation and any disciplinary decision made by on duty staff.
  2. Minor rule violations will be tallied and can lead to a major rule violation.
  3. Inmates may fill out a grievance form to appeal the minor rule violation and disciplinary decision.
